St. Vincent De Paul Society

The St. Vincent De Paul Society is a non-profit volunteer organization providing person to person assistance to families and individuals in need, regardless of religious affiliation. We collect, organize and disperse items that people need for their daily lives. We are part of an international Catholic lay organization which seeks to find the face of Christ in those who are suffering. The Society has two aims; through the exercise of charity to do a little spiritual and temporal good for poor individuals and families in the name of Jesus Christ and to do a great deal of spiritual good to its members. This chapter provides most of its support to families and individuals in need in the towns of South Windsor, Manchester, Vernon, Tolland, Ellington, and East Hartford. We also provide food, clothing and other necessities to shelters and schools in Hartford. Volunteers are needed  to assist in monthly Sandwich and Fresh Fruit Collection, Monthly Non-Perishable Food Collection (4th Sunday each Month), Weekly pickups and deliveries of furniture, appliances, clothing and toys, Weekly sorting and handling of clothing donations, Visitation to the sick and elderly, Annual new toy drive (Giving Tree), Annual Blanket drive, Annual Socks, Underwear and Glove drive.  Meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday of the month.  Contact: Rob Nelli  (860- 644-4449) or email rob@nelli.net.
